Bellalicious French Toast

Bellalicious is a new word I just invented today to describe my new French Toast. Why I did not come up with this word while Bella Bistro was in full swing, I am not sure. So its a snow day in Colorado, and this morning we have been snow blowing and shoveling and we needed a good yummy breakfast.

For this French Toast you will need some easy ingredients, essentially some sliced brioche bread is going to be dipped in an egg mixture and then a crumb mixture and then air fried. I use the breading technique for eggplant parmesan, zucchini fries, mozzarella in carozza… But I wanted something sweet for French Toast. My husband normally gets scolded for his bad choice in cereals. He happened to have a cinnamon toast crunch cereal in the pantry that I used a rolling pin and made bread crumbs. I also crushed up some pecans to add to the crumbs. My suggestion would be Frosted Flakes, leave out the nuts for kids or allergies.

  • Sliced Brioche Bread
  • 2 cups Frosted Flakes or dry cereal you have on hand
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans are optional or any other nut you have on hand
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 tablespoons melted butter
  • favorite maple syrup – for an adult syrup heat the syrup with Kahlua or Whiskey

Pre heat Air Fryer 390* for 5 minutes

In a medium size bowl whisk the eggs, milk and vanilla. In a separate medium size bowl place the cereal crumbs and nuts. Set up a breading station. You can leave the bread slice whole or cut in half vertically. Dip the bread in the egg mixture and then the cereal nut mixture. Place on a plate or cookie sheet pan. Place the french toast in the air fryer, how ever many pieces your air fryer will hold, using a pastry brush pat melted butter on the French toast. Cook for 4 minutes at 390* flip toast, pat with melted butter again. Cook for 3 more minutes or until the toast is as crispy as you like.

Serve with your favorite maple syrup.
