Inside Villa Lyda
Inside: accommodation at Lyda is spread over a main house with two independent apartments and two guesthouses. The entrance of the main house’s ground floor apartment opens into a generously proportioned living room, with sea views, a pair of French doors opening out onto the terraces. Furnished with three sink-in sofas gathered around a fireplace, the living area flows through a large arch into an equally spacious dining area served by a bright, well-equipped kitchen. A door opens out onto a shaded terrace set up for al fresco dining. Back in the living area, a little corridor to one side of the sofas leads first to a guest WC and then on to the ground floor’s bedroom, a good-sized double with sea views, French doors accessing the terraces and an en- suite shower room .The first floor apartment of the main house is accessed by external steps from the lovely rear terraces. Just over the threshold is a communal space with a kitchen corner, a dining table, fabulous sea views and access to a panoramic terrace. On either side of this space is a bedroom, double and a double-twin, each with its own en-suite shower room, sea views and access to the panoramic terrace. The first guesthouse is located on the other side of the main house’s shady al fresco dining area. The entrance leads into a large open-plan space featuring a kitchen- diner and, down a few steps, a living area with built-in L-shaped seating a sofa, a corner fireplace, sea views and access to a shady terrace. Just off the dining area are two bedrooms, a double-twin and a double. Both come with ensuite shower room and sea views. The former accesses the front terrace, the second its own terrace to the side of the house. The second guest house is situated a couple of minutes’ walk from the main house. Here there is a large open-plan space with a double bed with en-suite shower room on the upper level and a comfortably furnished living area with dining table and kitchen corner on the lower level. This can be considered a master suite.
Outside Villa Lyda
Lyda’s spacious interiors flow out onto equally generous terraces that wrap around the property on all sides. There are numerous al fresco spots in which to sit, dine, chat, sunbathe, have fun and snooze, and all rooms have access to the terraces. Running along the front of the property, linking the main house to the first guesthouse’s shady patio, is an expanse of sun-soaked terrace below which, down just a few steps, is the lovely pool area. Here, apart from the geometrically shaped zero-edge pool, is another shaded sitting area, secluded by a stone wall with windows looking out to sea. A wide arch in a stone wall between the main house and the first guesthouse allows the front terraces to flow into the shaded area outside the main house kitchen. With its dining table and chairs, this is a lovely spot for breakfast, a midmorning coffee or a light lunch. Continuing on from here, another arch provides access to the rear terraces, which are no less impressive than those at the front. Up a few steps is the main al fresco dining area, which is served by a wood-fired oven, a large built-in barbecue, a sink, and plenty of worktop space. Sheltered by stone walls and a cane-topped canopy, and offering views out to the intense blue waters of the Aegean, this is a most gorgeous spot in which to cook and enjoy long meals with your group. At the far end of this rear terrace, a flight of steps leads up to a sheltered walled patio outside the main house’s first floor apartment. Graced by a mature, shade giving pine tree, from which a hammock hangs, this terrace is a further demonstration of just how much outdoor space you have at your disposal
The main house’s first floor apartment has a terrific sea-view terrace, accessed from both bedrooms and the kitchen-diner. To complete the picture, both guesthouses have their own shaded and sun soaked terraces looking out to sea.
